Installation of a new transformer at the Ust-Srednekanskaya hydroelectric power plant has begun.
The power transformer, weighing more than 135 tons, will provide power to the third hydro unit and will increase the voltage from 15.75 kV to 220 kV.
Built by RusHydro, Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP is located on the Kolyma river and will provide power to the people of the Magadan Region.
Commissioning of the third hydro unit is planned for the fourth quarter of 2018.
Prior to the construction of the Ust-Srednekanskaya HPP, 95% of Magadan Region’s electricity was provided by just one power plant, Kolyma HPP.
