New substation in Newport to replace two aging ones

USA, Rhode Island: The Newport Zoning Board of Review has approved construction of a new National Grid substation which will increase the city’s power grid, while removing two outdated substations.

The new substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will replace two aging substations, which will be removed, reports Newport This Week.

Many other substations on the island are nearly 100 years old and they will all be removed, according to the officials.
