United Kingdom, Cornwall: Transformer fire at the Gwallon Lane substation in Marazion has caused power cuts in west Cornwall, affecting over 1,000 homes.
Western Power Distribution spokesman confirmed that the primary transformer developed a fault and caught fire, reports Cornwall Live.
Emergency services are at the scene dealing with the fire. WPD said that data estimates the "worst case scenario" where more than 3,000 homes were affected in total.
The outages happened at the time the killer storm Ophelia is battering the British Isles with wind and flood warnings issued in many parts of the UK.
