The Netherlands: Dutch transmission system operator TenneT Holding BV has started construction of a high-voltage substation at Rilland in the Dutch province of Zeeland, reports Renewables Now.

The substation, with power transformers and associated electrical equipment, will support a new 380 kV connection between Borssele and Rilland and the future connection of the offshore wind farms at Borssele.

The Rilland substation will also strengthen the interconnection with neighbouring Belgium and create three connections: Borssele-Rilland, Geertruidenberg-Rilland and Rilland-Zandvliet in Belgium.

It is scheduled to start operations during the first half of 2019.
